Mabel The Court Dog
The Ministry of Justice currently has two appointed court dogs in New Zealand, both trained by Mobility Assistance Dogs
• Court Dog Mabel, working at the Tauranga Moana District Court
• Court Dog Armstrong, working at the North Shore District Court
Together, these dogs provide support to:
• vulnerable participants in court proceedings;
• individuals involved in family violence and child-protection matters;
• children and youth;
• adults experiencing trauma;
• judicial officers and staff
